The Preschool Curriculum Web prepared by the Curriculum Development Division, Bureau of Elementary Education, DepEd is the basis in preparing this book.

Different approaches to Science Teaching such as the Thematic Approach, Process, Inquiry and Integrated Approaches are used to develop the lessons in this book. These book can be possibly implemented during the teaching-learning process to achieve meaningful and functional learning among the preschoolers.

In Level-1, most of the concepts in the themes and topics to be taken up are presented in illustrated forms to arouse the desire of the young learners to observe, see, inquire, discover and find facts within their experiences.

In Levels-2 and 3, concepts and information are grouped into units of lessons. Lessons in Science are integrated with Health, Mathematics, Language, Reading, Music, Culture, Values and P.E. to enrich the pupil's experiences and at the same time make learning meaningful, interesting and enjoyable to them.

The concepts are presented in varied situations in the form of illustrations, rhymes, games action songs, and short selections to arouse the desire of the young learners to listen, observe, inquire, read, discover, find facts and be able to participate actively in the recitation and class interaction.

Practice Exercises, Seatworks and Home-based activities are included to be used to assess individual pupil's progress, to reinforce skills, enrich experiences and to evaluate changes in attitudes and behavior.

A Teacher's Guide for each level of the Worktext is available at St. Matthew's Publishing.

In this book- WONDERS of INTEGRATED SCIENCE, the lessons are grouped into different themes.

Example: Theme 1 is about Oneself.

In Level 1 The child who will use this book is taught how to identify oneself by telling his name/identifying oneself as a boy /girl.

In Level 2 The situation is presented in the form of a dialogue of a boy and a girl introducing oneself to each other.

In Level 3 The situation is presented as a classroom activity with the whole class participating in the lesson-identifying boys/girls in the class.

Theme 2 is about My Family and Others

In Level 1, the first lesson is presented with the family members working together at home.

In Level 2, the different parts of the room is shown for the pupils to see if the parts of the house shown in the picture is a safe place for the family to stay in.

In Level 3, the house and the surrounding are shown to see if the family that lives there can have clean, fresh air.

Please take note that although the themes and the lessons deal with the same topics, they are presented in different situations the vocabularies are enriched and the learners are challenged to give more informations about the concepts.

The same considerations were taken in all the other themes that are included in Levels 1, 2, and 3.

Isa itong Worktext ukol sa mga mag-aaral sa Preschool. Aklat ito na magagamit sa paglinang ng mga kanais-nais na ugali at gawi ng mga mag-aaral sa Kindergarten.

Sa paghahanda ng mga aralin at gawaing nakapaloob sa aklat na ito ay isinaalang-alang ang mga karanasan at sitwasyong may kaugnayan sa pagpapahalaga ng bata sa sarili ayon sa pamantayang tanggap ng lahat ng kinauukulan.

Upang maging makabuluhan at kawili-wili ang mga gawain, inilahad ang mga aralin sa iba't ibang anyo ng literatura tulad ng tugma, dayalogo, pabula, salaysay at puzzle.

Ang mga Gawain sa Pagpapahalaga ay nilakipan ng tseklist. Inaasahan na ito ay magsisilbing panukat sa pagtataya ng saloobin at sa mabuting pagbabago ng mga ugali at kilos ng mga batang pinag-uukulan at gagamit ng aklat na ito.

Sa pamamagitan ng aklat na ito ay inaasahang maikikintal sa murang isip ng mag-aaral ang pagkilala at pagmamahal sa Diyos, sa bayan, sa mga magulang at sa kapwa.

Ginamit na batayan sa paghahanda ng aklat na ito ang Patnubay na Kurikulum ng DepEd ukol sa paglinang ng Pagpapahalagang Moral.

May inihanda ring Patnubay ng Guro na magsisilbing panuto sa pagtalakay ng aralin. Tulad ng Worktext ay matatamo ito sa St. Matthew's Publishing.

Brief Description of Preschool Books




The worktexts come in five sequential themes, namely

  • 1.MYSELF

Each theme has several units and each unit has several lessons. The lessons revolve around the unit and the theme. Every unit is preceded by a CONCEPT WEB with a corresponding ACTIVITY WEB.

The concept web guides the teachers on the different concepts to develop while the activity web suggests the different learning activities to employ. The activities can encompass two or more learning areas such as Math, Science, Language Arts-English and Filipino, Arts, Music and Movement and Social Studies. Learning of concepts is based on activities and learning experiences.

BLOCKS OF TIME have been prepared for each day and lesson as follows:

  • 2.Big Group Activities
  • 3.Small Group Activities
  • 4.Second Meeting Time
  • 5.Pack – Away
  • 6.Snack Time
  • 7.Story Time
  • 8.Indoor/Outdoor Activity

The Whole Group Time or the Big Group Activity is used, as an opportunity to build a sense of community or shared purpose. This is the core or the connecting link that allows the integration process. This is one period wherein each child encounters what others in the group think, say and create, thus, one's own knowledge and understanding grow and change.

The Small Group Activity, on the other hand, provides many opportunities for children to work in small groups, that children create informally or which the teacher organizes. Concepts and skills to be developed and materials/equipment needed are indicated in the table of the Blocks of Time. The indication helps teachers to plan & prepare in advance the needed materials/equipment which are developmentally leveled. It makes the development of the lesson more interesting and provides an element of surprise.

Ang aklat na ito ay makakatulong sa bata na makapagbasa sa madali, sistematiko at kawili-wiling paraan. Mga makabuluhang hakbang ng Phono-visual Approach ang ginamit sa aklat na ito tulad ng sumusunod:

  • 1. Pagmamasid sa ayos ng labi, dila at ngipin habang binibigkas ang salita.
  • 2. Pagkilatis sa una at huling tunog ng salita.
  • 3. Pag-uugnay ng titik na simbolo ng tunog na narinig.
  • 4. Pagsulat nang wasto sa simbolo ng tunog na natutuhan.

Ang mga tunog na halos ay magkakatulad ang paraan ng pagbigkas(production of sound) ay magkakasunod na ituturo. Sa ganitong paraan ay madaling makikilala at matatandaan ng bata ang mga nasabing tunog. Ito rin ang magiging daan upang maging mahusay ang bata sa pagbaybay (spelling).

Nakapaloob din ang Lagumang Pagsubok (summative evaluation) sa katapusan ng bawat cluster ng tunog upang matiyak ang lubos na pagkatuto (mastery learning) ng mag-aaral sa nasabing cluster.

Ang mga aralin ay inilahad sa pamamagitan ng palit-awit, rap-rap, at paraang patugma. Batay na rin sa mga pagsasaliksik (researches) at sa karanasan ng mga guro sa preschool na ang mga bata sa kanilang murang gulang ay madaling makatanda ng mga aralin kung ang mga ito ay natututuhan sa pamamagitan nang pag-awit, pagtula at paglalaro. Kapansin-pansin ang kasiyahan ng mga bata kapag sila'y umaawit, tumutula o naglalaro habang nag-aaral ng pagbasa.

May kalakip itong patnubay ng guro kasama ang mga mungkahing hakbang na dapat sundin sa paglinang ng bawat aralin.

Ang Worktext na magagamit ng guro sa paglinang ng mga kasanayang pang komunikasyon sa Wikang Filipino.

Ibinatay ito sa Bagong Preschool Curriculum Development Division, Bureau of Elementary Education, Department of Education.

Ang mga konsepto ukol sa Sibika at Kultura, Matematika, Agham at Kalusugan, Musika, Sining at Kabutihang Asal ay isinaalang-alang na kasanib ng mga araling pang wika.

Sa pag-aayos ng mga aralin ay isinama ang mga mahahalagang kaalaman na kaugnay ng iba't ibang karanasang pambata, kaalinsabay ng pagkakatuto niyang kumilos, makinig, magmasid, mag-isip, magsalita, magbasa, umunawa at sumulat.

Iba't ibang anyo ng paglalahad ang ginamit dito gaya ng sitwasyong nakalarawan, dayalogo, tugma, awit at maikling salaysay upang mapanatili ang kawilihan ng mga bata at mahikayat sila upang magmasid, makinig, magtanong, sumagot at sumali sa iba't iba pang gawain kaugnay ng aralin.

Bukod sa mga gawain at pagsasanay na pangklase ay may mga kalakip din ito na mga gawain sa pagtataya sa mga natutuhan ng mga bata sa bawat aralin. May kasama rin itong mga Gawaing-bahay upang magkaroon ng pagkakataon ang mag-anak na makita ang pag-unlad ng bata at patuloy na masubaybayan sa bahay.

May inihanda ring Teacher's Guide na magagamit na patnubay ng guro upang matukoy kung alin sa mga aralin sa aklat ang makatutulong sa paglinang ng mga kasanayan.

    Through the relevant information and activities included in this book, it is hoped that the young learners will be guided to know what is right, develop good habits and be able to practice the desirable behavior.

The book Pinayamang Pamamaraan sa Pagbasa ng Bagong Alpabetong Filipino shows the different strategies in teaching the Bagong Alpabetong Filipino to our young preschoolers. It works on a step by step process wherein a child must first be ready to read. The skills in listening, speaking and writing goes hand in hand with this. As soon as the young learners has been exposed to meaningful rhymes, songs, riddles, poem and stories about his environment, the next step is mastering the names and sounds of the new Filipino alphabet composed of 28 letters: 5 vowels, 15 consonants and 8 borrowed foreign letters. Each sound has a soundteller for the child to remember . i.e Aa – atis, etc. The poems, rhymes and riddles are the authors original compositions.
